Dear idsiani,

this is a preliminary announcement for an event to be held on the afternoon of Thursday, June 30th, at the Viganello Campus. I’ll send a proper announcement with registration link later, as the schedule will be set in stone (a tentative one is here  ) - this message is just to allow you to save the date if you are interested.

We will have introductory talks about applications of topology and algebra to complexity of motion planning, to neural codes and to data analysis, i.e.: MAFALDA - MAthematics For Algorithms, Life sciences and DAta.

The closing act will be a joint SUPSI-USI lecture (in collaboration with the Euler Institute and IDSIA) by prof. Henry Schenck (Auburn U) entitled “Data meets Topology: an invitation to persistent homology”

This lecture will take place at around 16:30 and will be followed by a small reception.

The talks are aimed at a broad audience, everybody is welcome and participation will be free-of-charge.
I hope that you’ll join us for one or more of the talks and that you’ll find some inspiring thoughts.

This event will be in the larger context of a weekslong mathematics conference hosted by SUPSI ( http://www.combinatorialmethods.ch/ticino22/ )

Best wishes
Emanuele
